Travel guide
It is useful for walking and cycling trips toward KNSM-eiland and Java-eiland without travelling through Centraal Station.
The crossing is free. Cars and brommobiles cannot use IJ ferries.
Zamenhofstraat is the north-side landing of F1.
Paid street parking around €1.72/hour.
At the ferry landing, expect Amsterdam tariefgebied 7 rates: about €1.72/hour Monday–Saturday 09:00–19:00 and Sunday 12:00–19:00. Motorkade / Meeuwenlaan just west is about €3.01/hour until midnight.
Park on Zamenhofstraat by the landing, not Motorkade, for the lower rate—and prefer this side over Azartplein (€5.37/hour).

The Zamenhofstraat ferry stop is on the IJ edge of Buiksloterham, a former polder in Amsterdam Noord. Reclamation began in 1844; after the unfinished works were sold in 1851, steam pumps completed the drainage. Following construction of the North Sea Canal, the area became part of Amsterdam in 1877.
Early twentieth-century planning brought workers’ neighbourhoods close to the shipbuilding and industry on the north bank. The street name preserves that industrial past: before 1948, Zamenhofstraat was called Plaatijzerweg, after the steel trade. The ferry now joins this north-bank waterfront to the Eastern Docklands.
