About the NDSM ferry

Choose F4 for the city centre and rail connections. Choose F7 for Houthavens and western Amsterdam.

Both are free IJ ferries, but their operating hours and departure intervals differ.

Finding the landing

The timetable uses the official stop name NDSM-werf. The ferry landing is on the NDSM waterfront.

Parking near NDSM

Paid street parking around €1.72/hour; garages nearby.

Around TT. Neveritaweg and NDSM-plein, street parking is typically about €1.72/hour Monday–Saturday 09:00–19:00 and Sunday 12:00–19:00. West of TT. Vasumweg, Cornelis Douwes uses a night-paid experiment instead.

For events or overnight stays, APCOA Parking NDSM offers a day maximum that can beat long street stays.

Rates are indicative and can change by street or day. Always check the meter or local signs. Official parking information

History of the NDSM ferry

The NDSM ferry lands at one of Amsterdam’s great industrial landscapes. Shipbuilding moved to this side of the IJ when the earlier yard became too small. After the Second World War, the combined Dutch Dock and Shipbuilding Company—NDSM—thrived during the reconstruction years.

Large vessels were launched here, including the Oslofjord in 1949. The shipbuilding crisis of the 1970s brought restructuring and closures, but the vast halls and slipways found a second life with artists, makers and events. NDSM is now developing as a waterfront district while retaining the scale and character of the former yard.
